Improving safety and working conditions, while optimizing production processes.

Founded in 1974 and located in Azkoitia (Guipúzcoa), BETELU carpentry is now in its third generation of family ownership and specializes in the production of wooden packaging.
“We manufacture crates, cages, pallets, and large-scale packaging as quickly as possible. We also provide all the necessary services to ensure that our clients’ products reach their destination in perfect condition.”

Over the past five years, the Basque company has experienced steady revenue growth. Despite market challenges such as rising energy and raw material costs, production continues at a solid pace, with long-term orders—especially for custom packaging mainly intended for machinery and component exporters.

The decision to invest in a new dust and sawdust extraction system stemmed from the need to improve working conditions and safety, as well as to optimize production processes that were being hindered by the individual extraction systems previously used in the facility.

The PJ VCL 700 Atex system from VENETA IMPIANTI, designed to efficiently manage dust and sawdust waste generated by packaging machinery, has resolved the inefficiencies of the old extraction systems, which were individually connected to each machine and caused “significant time and energy loss, along with noise and airborne dust throughout the facility.”

BENEFITS OF THE NEW SYSTEM
The installation of the MOBIL PJ VCL 700 dust extraction system from VENETA IMPIANTI marked a “step forward” and a “major improvement” for BETELU. It resolved significant issues related to the handling of dust and sawdust, improving working conditions, enhancing safety (the system is ATEX certified), and enabling a significant optimization of production processes by eliminating downtime previously caused by cleaning and emptying collection bags.

The installation, carried out by MAESMA in collaboration with the manufacturer, was flawless: “the system is already set up for future expansions, such as the addition of a briquetting press to replace the big bag.”

The MOBIL PJ VCL 700, located outside the facility, serves all the machines through a network of pipelines.

BETELU has thus gained numerous significant benefits for its daily operations:

  • Elimination of dust
  • Reduction of noise inside the facility
  • Significant increase in extraction capacity
  • Greater safety for everyone
  • Optimization of production times

MAESMA supplied and installed both the piping and the system, collaborating closely with technicians from VENETA IMPIANTI and the client company to tailor the installation to their specific needs.

Among the main features of the MOBIL PJ VCL 700 system are the self-cleaning, maintenance-free bag filters and the large-capacity big bag for sawdust collection. The system also includes an intermediate hopper as an additional reservoir, allowing production to continue uninterrupted during bag replacement.

The system has been designed to accommodate a briquetting press in the future, which would further add value to the wood waste generated on-site.
